Our Team - Passionate About Search

Our team believe that search engine marketing should play an active role in most companies marketing and advertising activities. We have helped many clients since 2003 and our aim is to continually raise the bar, helping our clients do better as well as improving standards in search marketing across the region.

Jon Colegate, Director

Jon founded Sunflower and has built a strong reputation through successful long term relationships with his clients. Jon has helped many businesses in the toughest of sectors achieve outstanding results from the internet.

Jon is a member of SEMPO, the SMAUK, a registered Google Adwords Professional and a Yahoo! Search Ambassador. Before founding Sunflower, Jon was responsible for online marketing with an AIM listed company and his interest in search engine optimisation dates back to 1999 when he succesfully ranked a domain for a range of anti-theft devices.

Jon has contributed speaking slots to local organisations involved with search engine optimisation including Business Link South Yorkshire and HM Customs & Excise, helping local people do better from the internet.

Jon also holds a BA in Business and Marketing, studying in his home town of Sheffield

Adrian Johnson - Client Side Technology

Adrian manages client side coding and is one of the region's leading web designers/developers. Adrian is a strong advocate of standards compliant coding practices and ensures all our client projects meet WCAG and W3C guidelines. His coding strengths include HTML, XHTML, Java Script and CSS.

Adrian has applied his skills to the demands of search engines and is the first to admit he had to reinvent himself when starting work at Sunflower. His core strengths have been fully utilised and through formal training programmes, is now able to deliver perfect optimisation scenarios for our clients.

Being a keen advocate of the internet, Adrian also ensures Sunflower meet search engine best practice in all areas of our work. This helps to keep clients well within safe optimisation boundaries.

Adrian holds a degree in interactive multimedia - if you come and see us, just dont mention Disney! (please)

Robin Wood - Server Side Technology

Robin handles server side technology with his skills including database engineering through to server security and general server side technologies such as IIS & Apache. Robin is able to deal with most things we throw at him, delivering high quality, robust work for our clients.

Robin's time with us is spent finding new ways to optimise client developments, writing search friendly CMS systems & database architectures, managing client's server side communications with search engines and protecting our clients from security threats.

Robin holds a Masters degree in Computer Science and also runs his own technology business Freedom Software.

Matt Jones - Social Media & Link Building

Matt brings his sound knowledge of social media to Sunflower and works actively on link building activities. He spends much of his day talking to webmasters and site owners - as well as thinking up interesting ways to utilise social media websites.

When he is not link building, Matt supports client retainers, helping to ensure our clients keep their content fresh and up to date as well as extracting newsworthy stories for distribution online.

Matt holds a degree in Fine Art and Digital Media, he is also our resident film buff!
