We recently wrote an article inspired by A List Apart about the SEO benefits of writing good quality code. In a recent article on Search Engine Watch, Jonathan Hochman hammers home the point after a chat with Dan Crow, Product Manager for the crawl infrastructure group at Google.
Getting The Message Out There
Hochman suggests there are very few articles out there showcasing the benefits of good quality code for SEO. We whole heartedly agree !
Well we are doing our bit to try and give this issue more priority in the seo community. The usual suspects get most of the SEO attention ( link building, duplicate content etc etc ) whilst actual code standards gets very few mentions.
The Hochman article is very refreshing to anyone writing quality code and involved with SEO. For some time, we have been banging the drum about how quality code and SEO go hand in hand. With this article, we hope more people wake up to the benefits of quality code and move away from nested tables, poorly written javascript and general WYSIWYG coding practices.
